Ingredients:

  • 7 (1 ounce) squares semisweet chocolate
  • 2 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate
  • 3 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Directions:

  1. Chop the semisweet and unsweetened chocolate, then melt them together with softened butter in the top of a double boiler over simmering water. Stir until fully melted, then remove from the hot water and let it cool slightly.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt, and set aside.
  3. Beat the white sugar and eggs together until thick and creamy. Mix in the vanilla extract and the melted chocolate mixture. Gradually add the flour mixture and blend well. Stir in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts.
  4. Drop teaspoonfuls of the batter about 1-1/2 inches apart onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake in a 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) oven for 8 minutes or until the tops are cracked and shiny. Allow the cookies to cool on the sheet for 3-5 minutes, then transfer them to racks to cool completely.
