Booting & Installation Instructions:

1️⃣ Insert the Ubuntu 8.04 SPARC Server CD into your Sun Microsystems server/workstation.
2️⃣ Power on the system and enter OpenBoot PROM (OBP) by pressing Stop + A during boot.
3️⃣ At the ok prompt, type:

boot cdrom

4️⃣ Follow the on-screen text-based installation process.

For network-based installations, users could utilize TFTP boot or a Debian-based network image and later configure Ubuntu-specific features.

🔄 Updating Ubuntu 8.04 After Installation

Since Ubuntu 8.04 reached end-of-life in April 2013, the official repositories have been moved.
To continue installing software and package updates, users must update their system’s sources list to point to the correct repositories.

Replace all instances of archive.ubuntu.com with old-releases.ubuntu.com in your software sources.
